Here are two recipes for you to try in between of your treadmill or elliptical workouts:

Green Smoothies For Weight Loss

Green smoothies are very easy to prepare. Here is a basic green smoothie recipe for you to try:

1 pint of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or other berries, fresh or frozen
2 very ripe bananas
1 handful of spinach
2 cups of water

Blend all these ingredients to smooth consistency in your blender, pour it in a glass and enjoy!

Once you try this recipe, experiment with various fruit and greens combinations.

Great ingredients for smoothies include: pineapple, apples, pears, kiwis, oranges; kale, celery stalks, spinach, arugula (love it!), cilantro (love it, too!), collard greens, Swiss chard (personally, I don’t love it so much, but maybe you will), parsley, and other fruits and greens.

Gradually increase the amounts of leafy greens in the recipes. You want to load on those nutrients after your work outs!

Raw Green Soups For Weight Loss

Some people are afraid that adding even a little bit of fruit to their diet will affect their weight loss. While this fear is completely unfounded, if you are trying to limit the amount of fruits that you are eating – here is a more savory recipe for a blended salad or stew. This recipe is different from the green smoothie above in that it should not be blended to a smooth consistency.

Ingredients:

2 ripe tomatoes
1 cucumber
1 pear
1 celery stalk
1 handful of spinach
1 handful of basil
1 teaspoon of honey or agave nectar

Notice, how this time there is no liquid, so you need to start with the ingredients that have most water. Start by blending two tomatoes in your blender on low speed, add cucumber, pear, celery, spinach, basil, and pour the sweetener last. Blend on low speed to leave a stew-like consistency, crunchy with chunks of vegetables, not smooth as in smoothie. Pour into a bowl and eat like a soup.

Make a commitment to incorporate green smoothies and blended soups/salads into your menu every single day, 2-3 times per day.
